Dr. Martin Welch is the lecturer in Microbiology at the University of Cambridge for the Department of Biochemistry. Dr. Welch has a group in which their studies focus on the microbiology research laboratory and the their main focus is on the Pseudomonas aeruginosa. They also work on other species. Martin is the head of the group.
Their team's particular research interestes includes the following:
*the biofilm and colony phenotype
*investigating the production and function of rhamnolipids
*investigating the response and resistance of P. aeruginosa antibiotic treatment
*investigating how antibiotics affect quorum sensing regulation
*contribution of each quorum sensing system.
Additionally they have researched the stress response in E. Carotovora and are involved in the testing of DOS synthesised chemical compounds for antibiotic efficacy.
Together with his team, Dr. Welch used the combination of state-of-the-art"-omics and different biological approaches to investigate.
